Buyback Policy

TARAYA (operated by A96 Ventures Private Limited)
Version 1.0 · Effective 14 September 2026

This Policy sets out the terms on which TARAYA repurchases eligible silver articles from their original purchasers. It should be read with our Shipping, Cancellation, Return and Refund Policy, Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

1. Scope

1.1 The Buyback Programme applies only to silver idols and vahanas purchased on taraya.in and accompanied by the original TARAYA tax invoice issued by A96 Ventures Private Limited.

1.2 The following are excluded from buyback:

1.2.1 Photo frames and paintings;

1.2.2 Bullion, unless and until this Policy is amended to include it;

1.2.3 Articles sold under any other brand, including IDOLIZE, and any third-party silver, however similar;

1.2.4 Any article presented without its original TARAYA invoice or that cannot be matched to that invoice on verification.

2. Eligibility and Succession

2.1 Buyback is available to the original purchaser named on the invoice and, after their death, to their legal heirs in accordance with Section 2.2. The right is otherwise personal and non-transferable, and is not available to gift recipients or to persons who acquired the piece from the original purchaser during their lifetime.

2.2 Succession. After the death of the original purchaser, the legal heir entitled to a piece may present it for buyback, subject to verification of the succession chain. In addition to the requirements of Section 4, the claiming heir must provide:

2.2.1 The death certificate of the original purchaser and, where the piece has passed through more than one succession, of each intermediate holder;

2.2.2 Proof of entitlement to the piece, being a will admitted to probate where probate is required by law, a legal heir certificate or surviving member certificate issued by a competent authority, or a succession certificate;

2.2.3 A written indemnity in our standard form and, where other heirs of equal degree exist, their written no-objection to the buyback; and

2.2.4 Government-issued photo identification and bank account details in the claiming heir’s own name.

2.3 We may decline a succession buyback where the documentary chain cannot be established to our reasonable satisfaction, and may reasonably require further documents where the chain is incomplete or contested.

2.4 There is no minimum holding period. An eligible piece may be presented for buyback at any time after delivery.

2.5 We may decline a buyback where the identity of the person presenting the piece, the invoice or the bank account details do not meet this Policy’s requirements, or where we reasonably suspect fraud or that the piece is stolen or disputed.

3. Valuation

3.1 The buyback value of a piece is calculated as:

Buyback Value = Net Silver Weight × 92.5% × Reference Rate per gram

3.2 Net Silver Weight means the actual weight of the piece as re-weighed on our calibrated scale at verification, less the weight or assessed weight of any non-silver components, including bases, fillings, lacquer, stones, threads and attachments.

3.3 Reference Rate means the most recent IBJA Silver (999) benchmark rate published by the India Bullion and Jewellers Association as at the time verification of your piece is completed at our premises, converted to a per-gram rate. Where IBJA publishes separate buying and selling rates, the buying rate applies. On a day on which IBJA does not publish a rate, the last published rate applies.

3.4 Amounts paid at the time of purchase towards making charges, taxes or shipping are not recovered through buyback. No deduction is made from the Buyback Value beyond fineness and the Net Silver Weight adjustment in Section 3.2.

3.5 The Buyback Value is quoted to you on completion of verification and is valid on that day only. It becomes fixed when you accept it in writing at our premises. If you do not accept on the day of quotation, the piece will be revalued at the then-current Reference Rate on any later visit.

4. Process

4.1 Buyback is conducted in person only, by prior appointment, at our premises at 44/19, Durgapur Lane, Kolkata 700 027, West Bengal. Write to care@taraya.in to schedule an appointment. We do not accept walk-ins or articles sent to us by courier or post for buyback.

4.2 Bring to your appointment:

4.2.1 The piece;

4.2.2 The original TARAYA tax invoice;

4.2.3 Government-issued photo identification of the original purchaser or, in a succession case, of the claiming heir together with the documents in Section 2.2; and

4.2.4 Bank account details in that person’s name.

4.3 A single appointment may cover multiple eligible pieces.

4.4 Verification at the appointment includes identity and invoice checks, weighing, hallmark inspection and non-destructive purity testing (including XRF).

5. Condition and Testing

5.1 Pieces that are worn, damaged or broken remain eligible and are valued under the same formula in Section 3, applied to their verified silver content.

5.2 We may decline buyback of a piece where verification indicates tampering, solder or metal additions, substitution of material, or any inconsistency between the piece and its invoice or hallmarking.

5.3 Where non-destructive testing is inconclusive, we may propose a destructive assay, which will be performed only with your prior written consent. If consent is not given, we may decline buyback of that piece. Testing is at our cost.

6. Payment

6.1 The Buyback Value is paid only by bank transfer (NEFT, IMPS or RTGS) to an account in the name of the original purchaser or, in a succession case under Section 2.2, of the verified legal heir, within two (2) business days of your written acceptance of the quoted value.

6.2 We do not pay in cash, by cheque or to third-party accounts under any circumstances.

6.3 We may request additional know-your-customer documentation for high-value transactions and may make any reports or deductions required of us under applicable law, including tax deducted at source where applicable.

7. Trade-In Credit

7.1 As an alternative to cash payment, you may apply the Buyback Value as trade-in credit against the purchase of a new TARAYA piece.

7.2 Trade-in uses the same verification and valuation as Sections 3 to 5. Where the new piece costs more than the credit, you pay the difference at the time of purchase. Where the credit exceeds the price of the new piece, the excess is paid to you under Section 6.

7.3 Trade-in credit has no cash value except as provided in Section 7.2, cannot be held for future use and must be applied at the time it is quoted.

8. Title and Finality

8.1 By presenting a piece for buyback, you confirm that you are its sole legal owner, that it is free of any lien, charge or dispute and that you have full authority to sell it.

8.2 On your written acceptance of the quoted Buyback Value, the sale to us is absolute and final. Title to the piece passes to A96 Ventures Private Limited, which may refine, melt, remake or resell it at its discretion. There is no right of repurchase, reversal or cancellation after acceptance.

8.3 You are responsible for the tax consequences, if any, of your sale of a piece to us.

9. General

9.1 The version of this Policy in force at the time you purchased a piece governs the buyback of that piece. Amendments to this Policy apply prospectively to purchases made after the amendment takes effect.
